Taking Education to Work is a coalition of businesses and education partners in North Houston that have come together to improve the employability and work skills of students and teachers through workplace experiential learning. The focus of Taking Education to Work is to place teachers and counselors in business situations to increase their awareness of the ever-changing needs of the business community (job shadowing) so that they might adjust curriculum accordingly and to place students in internships with local businesses to give them direct experience in the field that they are studying. This not only prepares the students for a future in a specific field, but upon the students’ graduation, provides the businesses with a competent, professional and motivated workforce. |
